The "Roaring Twenties" brought excess to its untimely peak. A time of musical and artistic expression. Also a time where lazy criminals saw the money, wealth and power they could achieve by controlling it all.

This story is another about drugs, sex, lust, greed, jealousy envy and murder. Everything corruption and crime live on. The very formula the music industry is built upon.
The current state of the music industry isn't a part of this movie. However, it is something I want in the forefront of people's minds as they watch it.

This movie is less about mystery and more about intrigue and suspense. Following the stories of a black Blues singer, his wife - a devious black female jazz singer, three white jazz musicians and the women they entered into the music industry with.

The male characters are only allowed to be friends in private. However, they are tight friends none the less. They know race isn't something that should divide them. They also understand it's this new and emerging industry that's calling all the shots.

The Music Industry.

An industry that controls people with drugs, money, sex, lust, jealousy and greed. An industry where murder or suicide are the only ways out. An industry that is destroying friendships and lovers alike. People who are forced to choose between the love of people they care deeply about, the love of their art, and the love of themselves.

This story is part of a series of stories which span from the beginning of the 20th century to the late 1940's. Each movie having some characters in common, yet each story being so very different.
